CHOOSING YOUR SUPPORT
Travelling alone for surgery in Seoul: planning English-speaking recovery care
If your hospital and surgery are already arranged, the next question is who will help with the practical parts of your stay. English-speaking recovery care gives you one person to discuss everyday needs with during the care hours you agree in advance.
Start with the arrangements you already have
Make a simple list of what your hospital or clinic has confirmed: appointment times, discharge arrangements, follow-up visits and the contact to use for clinical questions. Ask which services are included in your clinic package. A coordinator, an interpreter and a personal care professional may have different responsibilities; a title alone does not tell you what support is included.
Then look at the rest of the day. You may want help arranging meals, keeping everyday items within reach or coordinating the practical details of your accommodation and transport. Write down the tasks you would prefer someone to help with rather than assuming every recovery-care offer covers the same things.
| Practical task | Already covered by | Help to discuss |
|---|---|---|
| Meals and everyday items | Clinic / companion / undecided | Task and preferred hours |
| Personal comfort | Clinic / companion / undecided | Task and preferred hours |
| Practical coordination | Clinic / companion / undecided | Task and preferred hours |
| Booked follow-up logistics | Clinic / companion / undecided | Task and preferred hours |
Personal recovery care and medical care have different roles
Nightingale Seoul is a care-led service for international patients whose hospital arrangements are already made, including personal support after surgery or a hospital stay. One English-speaking care professional provides personal support and practical concierge coordination during agreed care hours. The same person handles these two parts of the arrangement.
Examples to discuss include meal support, personal comfort and practical coordination around your existing stay. Describe the help you need so that the tasks can be confirmed before booking. This service description does not include nursing, medical treatment or accommodation. Your hospital or clinic remains responsible for your medical care and clinical instructions.
Map the hours when you want support
A useful care plan is more specific than “someone during my recovery.” Put your known appointments and accommodation dates on a calendar, then mark the periods when you would like personal help. You can request daytime, evening or other arrangements for discussion; availability and the final hours are confirmed personally.
Care is provided within the agreed hours. Ask how any change to your dates, location or requested tasks would be discussed. Do not assume that a care booking includes attendance outside those hours or a separate concierge visiting at another time.
- Known dates: arrival, accommodation check-in and already-booked appointments.
- Preferred support periods: when you expect to want practical help.
- Tasks to discuss: meals, everyday comfort and specific coordination needs.
- Still undecided: any dates, location details or hours you need help planning.
Five questions to settle before booking
You do not need every detail to start a conversation. Share what is already confirmed and label the rest as undecided. Nightingale Seoul reviews your request before confirming availability, the scope of support, care hours and pricing. Preparing a request is an enquiry, not a confirmed booking.
- Will one English-speaking professional provide both personal care and practical coordination?
- Which dates, hours and location are included in the proposed arrangement?
- Which of my requested tasks can be included, and which remain with my clinic or another provider?
- Which costs are included in the care quote, and which are separate?
- What should I do if my existing schedule changes before the care begins?
